Company History
May 2000 – Lexington Flower Company opened in Topspin Plaza – Next to Bellacino’s – 5339 Sunset Boulevard
First sale was April 30th (while we were setting up) but our official open date was Monday, May 1st
- No website
- No social media
- No point of sale system
- We relied on word of mouth, flyers and made calls to local businesses letting them know we were open.
February 2001 – Moved up the hill to the old Book Haven location and tripled our space. – 5335 Sunset Boulevard
Our business continued to grow as more people found out about us and saw our work. We filled up the new space with lots and lots of inventory!
November 2006 – We moved to the white house at 721 Old Cherokee Rd and the following year changed our name to White House Florist to reflect the new location. The white house was built in 1885 (see
History of 721) and was known for the beautiful Christmas decorations that were put up by the Cothran Family each year. This is a tradition that we have continued, even with the red carpet! At a later date, we added “& Gifts” to let people know that we also had gifts in addition to flowers and plants.
We had always done weddings but we decided to create a division of the company that focused on Brides and their special day! This resulted in doubling our wedding business in the first year!
August 2012 – We had a 2nd walk-in cooler built and opened up the flower barn to customers. We even have drive-thru service which is very popular, especially at prom time!
September 2012 –
Winston’s Gift Shop was launched. We significantly expanded our gift items and made the house the gift shop and the flower barn the florist! Customers have the option to shop in either or both buildings!
A big thank you to our customers! We wouldn’t be here without YOU! We can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you for bringing me beautiful flowers all these years. Love the gift shop.
Beverly, you played a huge part in our being able to move to the “big white house on Old Cherokee Road”- wonderful memories we have of that
amazing journey just to get the property 13 years ago! Thank you for your friendship all of these years!
